VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Three creatures look like giant octopuses with tentacles but no suction cups and they make sounds like whales. A creature roars toward a young man and we see a large mouth filled with many sharp teeth.
A truck pushes another truck over a ledge and into a deep hole with water at the bottom; the driver floats unconscious but is rescued and revived. A creature breaks through the wall of a laboratory and is shot with many tranquilizer darts before it falls still. We watch on a computer screen as an oil drill pushes through a pocket of water; the equipment on the surface recoils, pipes burst, water sprays, flames blow into the air and a structure collapses and crushes a truck as three creatures are pulled to the surface (we hear groaning and purring and whimpering as two of the three creatures are captured and held in containment vessels).
A young man hears a noise in a junk yard and picks up a large wench when going to investigate and he throws the wrench toward the noise and a creature topples several barrels toward the young man who runs and hides in a barn under a heavy metal door; the creature squeezes (it looks like rubbery tentacles) into through the metal doors and the young man struggles to get back out (he does). A young man hears a noise in a junk yard and sees a hole blown through the side of a vehicle. Police come to a barn and investigate with guns drawn. Police investigate when several vehicles are vandalized (we see them with large holes in the sides where the gas tanks were). A car is crushed in a junk yard compactor and we see fluids spurt out and onto the ground.
Three creatures drive three trucks off-road and they are chased along narrow winding roads; the creature trucks are shot at and one of the creatures flips two other trucks over; the three trucks jump over a fallen tree, another truck crashes into a boulder and flips on its side (we hear the driver yell but do not see injuries), a creature truck is nearly pushed over a ledge and the driver hangs onto the door before being pulled in to safety. During a chase a sheriff's car cuts off a truck and the truck pushes the sheriff off the road (the car runs down a steep incline and crashes with no injuries seen). Three creatures driving trucks jump a large ramp to avoid flames and speed down a steep incline and winding roads (no injuries or evident damage). A creature drives a truck over several cars in a car lot and we see their windshields blow out and they crumple. A creature drives a truck into a food truck and it sprays red liquid onto a man nearby. A creature spins a truck around throwing dust in the air and then speeds away with a young man and a young woman inside, jumping through a trailer; it is chased by other trucks and a sheriff (one truck crashes in an alley and the creature climbs along the walls of the alley above the sheriff); the creature climbs a wall, speeds along rooftops and jumps between buildings. A creature drives a truck toward a speeding train and jumps a car to get to the other side and away from chasing vehicles. Two men grab and shove a young man threatening him.
A creature drives a truck erratically after it is given gasoline instead of oil (the chemical additives make it hyper). A creature drives a truck off the road and through rough terrain with a young man and a young woman inside and trying to steer. A young woman screams and falls on the ground causing a creature with a truck on its back to rear up as if it is also screaming in fear.
A man talks about killing creatures and poisoning their nest. A man yells at a young man and threatens him when he assumes he called the police for a false claim. A young man in a truck speeds next to a school bus and teases another young man on the bus by making faces at him. A young man mocks another young man about the condition of his truck.
A young man plants a trap of oil and a creature climbs onto a junk yard compactor to get it; the compactor malfunctions beginning to press down on the creature and the young man pulls it to safety (they both fall on the ground). A man and a young man repossess another young man's car. A young man plays a violent video game (we see and hear some gunfire).
A young man tries to stop a creature from chasing a dog and he is thrown onto the ground in mud. A creature on a wheeled flatbed chases a dog and the dog whimpers and runs away. A young man and a creature throw things at a junked truck; the creature throws a large block that dents the already damaged vehicle. A young man makes up scenarios and pretends to be speeding in a truck.
A man vomits and we see goo as he gags. A young man coughs and spits water after nearly drowning. A creature spits water in a young man's face. A young woman refuses to shake a man's hand because they are so sweaty.
We see a skull on a welding helmet.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
