A man (Viggo Mortensen) in Athens on vacation with his wife (Kirsten Dunst) is suspected of being involved in the death of a private investigator. VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - A man points a gun at another man and they fight until one slams the other into a bathtub and he hits his head killing him. A woman falls from a large flight of stone steps and hits her head and is killed (no blood is shown). A man is struck in the head and falls unconscious on the ground. Police chase two men through a building and narrow streets; one man is shot in the back and falls to the ground (we see blood on the wound as he dies.
► A man punches another man knocking him to the deck of a ship, then holds him over the railing threatening to drop him into the sea below. A man barges into the hotel room where a husband and his wife have been lying in bed kissing; the woman is embarrassed and covers herself with a sheet as the men go to the bathroom to talk. A man is shown dragging a dead man through a hotel hallway and struggling to get him into his room. A man shoves another man and they nearly fight but a third man breaks them up. A man grabs a woman and she shoves him, and then another man shoves him while yelling at him and the man falls to the ground (no evident injury is seen).
► A husband and his wife argue in a few scenes; in one scene another man tells the husband to "lay off." A husband yells at his wife and another man after drinking heavily; he passes out on a bench and wakes up to the sound of a man beating an octopus against a rock. A woman yells at a man.
► A man talks about fighting in a war. A man reads a letter about his father's funeral and it is clear that he did not attend. A remark is made about the "cruel tricks the gods play on man." A remark is made about a man and that he "was a god." A man remarks about Greeks and Turks being at each other's throats again.
