Dune: Part Two SEX/NUDITY 2

 – A young man and a young woman kiss as she lies on top of him and sex is implied.
A young man and a young woman kiss in a few scenes. A young man moves toward a young woman to kiss her and she tells him to put his hand in a box as she holds a pointed implement to his neck (presumably drugging him). A young man looks at a young woman lovingly in a few scenes. Two men kiss on the lips in a congratulatory manner.
A woman says that a young man is blinded by love. A man tells a young man that he should reserve his hand. A young woman says of a young man, “He’ll look pretty with blue eyes.” A young woman touches her abdomen while talking about an encounter with a young man implying that she is pregnant with his child (sex is implied). A young man asks another young man if a young woman is his “pet” and moves toward her threateningly.
A young woman wears a low-cut dress that reveals cleavage and bare shoulders. People strip dead bodies of clothing (we see the bare chests and abdomens of a few males). Men’s uniforms include codpieces that are obvious in a few scenes. A man is shirtless (his bare chest, abdomen and back are shown).

Dune: Part Two VIOLENCE/GORE 6

 – Rockets are fired into the distance and when they explode, large waves of sand and rubble wash over people killing them as they try to outrun them and giant sand worms move out of the sand with large mouths of sharp teeth open; many armed people in two factions charge toward each other and fight with sword slashing and punches and kicks landing. Large tank-like vehicles are lowered to the ground from flying vessels and they dig and pound on the sand as armed people walk alongside them; many armed people pop up out of the sand and attack the people slashing them with swords and they are shot from a flying vessel, one young man fights with a couple of people and a young woman shoots one with a rocket launcher, then shoots the flying vessel out of the sky, and the tank-like vehicle is shot and explodes. Many flying vessels fly toward an area where people ride sand worms into a huge sandstorm cloud; one vessel enters the cloud and a soldier onboard vomits (we see goo), a man twists the pilot’s head snapping his neck and orders the vessel to fire upon a mountain (we see the mountain being struck by many blasts); armed soldiers exit a vessel and move through an area as several are slashed by people with swords and others are shot, one man runs to a vessel and clings to its hatch as it takes off followed by another person and they fight until one is shot and falls plummeting to the ground. Large tank-like vehicles move across the sand and mines shoot out of the sand and attach themselves to the vehicles exploding, damaging and destroying them. People see and hear explosions in the distance and we see vessels firing on a mountain raising it to rubble; we hear people saying, “They are all dead,” and we see people with bloody wounds on their heads and faces; small birds are blasted with flame flowers and fall to the ground in flames. People sneak along sand hills and other armed people search after being lowered from a flying vessel; several armed people are shot and fall dead with several falling from a tall peak and crashing hard to the ground below causing others to panic and one young man fights with another slashing and stabbing with a sword, as a woman slams one in the head several times.
A young man enters a room where an injured man lies on the ground, kneels over him and stabs him in the neck (we see some blood), killing him. A young woman with blood on her head and face kneels on the ground as a young man threatens her and uses a flamethrower on her (we hear it fire as the scene ends). A young man slashes a man across the throat killing him, kicks another man and tells him to kiss his feet or die while holding a knife to his neck (blood trickles from a point on his neck). A young man presses the blade of a knife to his tongue, then quickly slashes a young woman’s throat killing her before stabbing another young woman in the abdomen a few times (we hear crunching and the woman moaning but see no blood). A man slams another man’s head against a control panel several times until he falls to the floor motionless (presumably dead). We hear screams coming from behind a closed door and when it is opened, we see two women lying dead against a wall that is splattered with blood. A young man carrying knives and wearing a protective suit enters an arena where he fights with men that we understand are drugged; crowds cheer as the first man slashes two of them in the throat killing them, and fights with a third until he is stabbed and killed as a large crowd cheers. Tubes attached to a man’s back are severed and he is struck in the back of the head with a sword hilt knocking him to the ground. Two young men with swords fight, slashing, kicking, head-butting and throwing each other; one is stabbed and a blade is pressed toward his face until the other is stabbed in the chest killing him (we see bloody wounds).
Large mounds of what we presume to be bodies are set on fire by people with flamethrowers in a few scenes; one scene is accompanied by a voiceover describing everyone dying in the dark. A dead body is unwrapped and something is smeared on his eyes and mouth before he is wrapped again and vacuum-sealed before fluid is drawn out of his body using tubes; the fluid is poured into a large pool of liquid (we are told that is fluid gathered from many other bodies).
A large military parade with many people cheering is seen with flags, vehicles and soldiers marching. We see a cave containing numerous atomic warheads as people talk about using them against an enemy. A man’s body is shown in the desert with large ants skittering on his flesh. People suspect two others of being spies, tell them they are not welcome and act aggressively accusing them of killing a man (they are carrying the man’s body wrapped in cloth). A young woman slaps a young man hard in the face and storms out.
A young man describes a nightmare where he sees millions of people dying of starvation because of something he does. A man yells, “Kill them all.” A woman tells another woman that she must drink a blue liquid and if she does, she will die; the woman asks what it is and the first woman commands in a deep voice, “Drink it.” A young man tells a man, “I ought to drown you.” A reference is made to sacrificing “an entire bloodline.”
Giant sand worms are called by a mechanical device that thumps on the ground; one scene shows a worm moving fast through the sand and coming to the surface under a pile of dead bodies that it swallows (we see its mouth filled with many long pointy teeth). A sand worm is called and we see a young man attempting to ride on its back using grappling hooks to hang onto its back; we see many similar scenes, some with many people riding on the backs of several large sand worms. A woman calls a sand worm and catches it, she pushes it into a pool of water drowning it (it thrashes briefly), she opens its mouth and pushes a tube into it that extracts a blue liquid that she calls the “water of life” and says that no man can ingest it and survive. A man talks to a young man about spiders and centipedes that he will encounter in the desert. A woman talks about converting the “non-believers.” A remark is made about someone drinking “worm [scatological term deleted].”
People strip dead bodies of clothing and items and drain fluid from their bodies (we see tubes with liquid passing through them into what look like canteens). Several scenes show an embryo in utero and a woman says, “She talks to me.” A man floats in the air above a pool of liquid that he then lowers into and sinks under the surface; we see him later with a device attached to his back and tubes that lead to other floating devices. A man has a large scar on his face.
An elderly woman with discolored eyes leans back and gasps as she is dying. A woman gasps, seizes and thrashes on the ground, her nose bleeds after drinking a liquid, and it seems as if she is dead, but she revives. A young man drinks a liquid that causes him to thrash and fall motionless to the ground; we see him appearing dead later as a young woman tries to revive him (he does revive). A young woman is shown with a badly burned and scarred face.
A woman vomits and we hear the splatter on the ground (we do not see goo).

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
